The Ford Explorer is an iconic SUV that had considerable influence on the American auto landscape. These fourth-generation models featured more powerful engines and updated interiors and technology compared to their predecessors, and their subtle styling has aged well. Most of these were driven hard for family duty, but this one has been spared – it touts under 24,000 miles from new! Factory equipment includes the Eddie Bauer Convenience Package, 18-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels, a liftgate with a flip-open rear window, power-adjustable and heated front seats, split-folding second and third-row seats, auxiliary rear climate control, Ford SYNC, and cruise control. The selling dealer reports no modifications.
The fourth-generation Ford Explorer was introduced in 2006 and continued the lineage of the company’s iconic SUV. In addition to being slightly larger inside and out than the previous generation Explorer, it was offered with Ford SYNC; Ford’s brand new voice-activated multimedia system. Production ended in 2010, and it remains the last Explorer to utilize a body-on-frame construction.
Power comes from a 4.0-liter V6, rated at 210 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission.
