The Shelby GT500 variant of the “S197” generation of the Ford Mustang included upgrades over the GT model like a supercharged V8 engine, a unique aesthetic, and durability enhancements. Most GT500 models of this era were coupes, but this is the less common convertible version.
The GT500 got an update for the 2010 model year that resulted in 40 more horsepower, 30 more lb-ft of torque, styling enhancements, and better fuel economy compared to its predecessor.
Power comes from a supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC “Modular” V8 engine, which produces 540 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. It powers the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
